Kara Werner-Sanders, MAC, ATC, LAT, CSCS
Certified Athletic Trainer
Kara Werner-Sanders has been the Certified Athletic Trainer providing coverage at Edwardsburg High School since August of 2014. She has been with Beacon Medical Group Sports Medicine & Memorial Hospital (South Bend, IN) since July of 2009. Kara previously provided Athletic Training services at Indiana University South Bend before coming to EHS.
While providing coverage at Indiana University South Bend Kara served on numerous committees for the NAIA-ATA, and the CCAC. Werner-Sanders served as the chair of the CCAC Athletic Trainers committee 2010-2014, chair of the NAIA-ATA Professional Education and Research committee 2011-2014, and served on NAIA Drug Testing Committee 2012-2014. Kara was also honored by being the 2010-2011 CCAC Athletic Trainer of the year, and member of Beacon Health system honorary group called Ecrew in 2013.
The Illinois native earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Carroll University (Waukesha, WI) in 2007.
Kara received a Masters of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education in 2009 from Lakeland College (Sheboygan, Wisc). While at Lakeland, she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years, working extensively with the volleyball, wrestling and softball teams while also being an assistant coach for the softball team.
Werner-Sanders is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Indiana Athletic Trainers Association, Michigan Athletic Trainers Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer and is also a Licensed Athletic Trainer in both Indiana and Michigan. Kara also has her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is a certified instructor for the Red Cross in: first aid, CPR, AED, Professional Rescuer, and Blood Borne Pathogens certifications.
