Congratulations to The Varsity Boys Tennis team, as they Competed yesterday at the Wolverine Conference Championships. Taking second place overall, it was the highest team finish for the Eddies in well over a decade! Bringing home Medals for the Eddies at #1 & #2 Singles were; Juniors Adam Redden and Logan Summy. Redden defeated Paw Paw #1; 6-3, 6-0 to cap off a strong day, while Logan Summy battled through a nearly 3 hour, 2-set match, 2 marathon tie-breaks and well over a dozen match points to defeat Paw Paw; 7-6(5), 7-6(4)! At #3 Singles, Junior Ethan Layman finished with back to back wins vs Niles and Three Rivers. #1 Doubles Brandon Van Overberghe & Keston McGuire came back from a first set loss to win their final match in a 3rd set tie-break vs Three Rivers; 3-5, 4-2, 10-5 At #3 Doubles; Reef Cuthbert & Zach Layman finished with back to back wins defeating Niles & Plainwell, while #4 Doubles Braden Farmer & Lincoln Freudenberg beat Three Rivers & Niles. The team is on the road Monday at Brandywine HS. Match play begins at 4pm.
