The boys tennis team made history this past weekend as they competed at the 2026 Michigan State Finals in Midland. The team was paced by #2 doubles flight duo of Keston McGuire & Niko Georgeoff, who won in straight sets vs Holly and advanced to battle the #1 overall seed Ann Arbor Greenhills where they eventually were stopped. Greenhills went on form their match with the Eddies to take the championship at that flight. In the #3 doubles flight, Bryce Linton & Lincoln Freudenburg were an incredibly tough out as they won 10 games in back to back sets. Despite winning 24 more games throughout the remainder of the tournament, it wasn't quite enough to push the Eddies over the top. Following the wrap up of play Friday, senior co-captain Brandon Van Overberghe reflected on the season; "I felt like everyone played their hearts out and to the best our ability. This season as a whole, exceeded my expectations in every way and I am so proud of all my teammates." The conclusion of the 2026 state tournament brings the two year run to a close as the Eddies finish 15-10 in dual match play, 17-21 (all flights) in MHSAA State tournament match play and 193-131 in two-year combined all-flight match play during the span. 2026 Final flight records #1 Singles - Adam Redden (Sr) 18-4 #2 Singles - Logan Summy (Sr) 21-2 #3 Singles - Albert Mottlau (Sr) 10-6 #4 Singles - Zach Layman (So) 12-6 #1 Doubles - Brandon Van Overberghe (Sr) & Ethan Layman (Sr) 12-9 #2 Doubles - Keston McGuire (Jr) & Niko Georgeoff (Jr) 18-5 #3 Doubles - Bryce Linton (Sr) & Lincoln Freudenburg (Jr) 15-5 #4 Doubles - Reef Cuthbert (Jr) & Gabe Davis (Sr) 10-10 *Minimum of 12 matches at a flight Congratulations on a great season Eddies!
