Congratulations to the Varsity Tennis Team, as they placed third in the Wolverine Conference Championships yesterday in Sturgis. This was the best team finish for the Eddies since joining the Wolverine Conference! Only 4 team-points separated the top three teams, as Sturgis (17) managed to just edge out the Eddies (16) by 1pt, while Paw Paw finished at 19 points. The Eddies had players advance to the final in four of the eight championship flights, and won two, scored two second place finishes, one 3rd place, 2 fourth place & one fifth place. Winning the overall #1 singles Championship was Eddies senior Adam Redden, who came back from a first set loss to defeat Paw Paw in what felt like a world heavyweight championship bout (1-6, 6-4, 6-2) Winning the overall #2 singles Championship was Eddies senior Logan Summy who dispatched Paw Paw after a late second set flurry from his opponent (6-1, 7-5) Senior Albert Mottlau earned the second place medal in the #3 singles flight after battling back in his first two round matches both, being down a set. And the #2 doubles team of Eddies; Keston McGuire & Nico Georgoff placed second in their doubles flight. Also Medaling for the Eddies was Zach Layman who took 3rd place in the # singles flight. Congratulations Eddies! The men are scheduled to play at Niles/Brandywine Monday October 5th, kick off is set for 4pm.
