The Eddies traveled to Berrien Springs and posted another strong defensive effort on their list of achievements this season, the result was a win vs. Dowagiac in the opening round of district play of the MHSAA state playoffs (66-20). Holding the Chieftains to 26% shooting and netting 29 points off of turnovers, the Eddies cruised. Reed gates led the Eddies with 18 points, while Lucas Kline finished with 9, Maverick Gates & Kevin Wright each had 8, while Michael Wright, Liam Sieggreen and Peter Szlanfucht each finished with 6 points. That win forces a second round matchup vs. Niles, for the third time this season. Following a solid win in the first matchup, the Vikings managed to hold on in the final seconds of game 2. After turning the ball over against the Eddies full court defense with 19 seconds left in the game, they could only watch as a game-tying three from Liam Sieggreen hit the rim, went halfway down and then rolled back out as the clock expired. The third installment should be a thriller Wednesday night at the Berrien Springs HS Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm following game one at 5:30.
