Friday night at Edwardsburg saw another hard fought battle and a big victory earned by the Eddies (63-49) over conference rival and visiting Bulldogs from Vicksburg HS. The Eddies were in control the whole way despite 8 Bulldog players breaking into the scoring column. But the Eddies scored 22 points off of Bulldog turnovers to help help reward their championship-level defense as Eddie seniors; Michael Wright, Maverick Gates and Gavin Roe close their final home game with another great victory. Leading the way for the Eddies Friday, was Reed Gates. The sophomore forward finished with 26 points and was a force at both ends getting 5 rebounds, 5 deflections and 4 steals. Blaise Crist and Maverick Gates added 16 & 14 points as the Eddies head into state playoff action Monday night in Berrien Springs. Their first round opponent will be Dowagiac, with the tip-off scheduled for 7pm.
