Monday evening the Varsity girls basketball team clashed with the Shamrocks from Berrien Springs, and battled to the final horn, winning 55-52. With 35 seconds remaining in the game, the Shamrocks hit a three pointer to draw within one point of Edwardsburg 50-51. But that was as close as the Shamrocks could get, as a team defensive stop with 6.1 seconds left cemented the win. Kya Shier and Mallory Schrock each finished with 7 points, while Shier had 10 pass deflections and Schrock tallied 5 steals as both guards helped pace a gritty team-defensive effort for the Eddies that scored 25 points off of Shamrock turnovers and kept their opponents' offense off track all night deflecting 27 Shamrock passes. The evenings biggest highlight however, came from Eddies Junior guard Shelby Laubach. Laubach led all scoring with a record breaking 40 points that came on 13/25 shooting. Finishing the ALL-State level performance going, 4/8 from three-point land, 10/15 from the foul line, 7 rebounds, 12 defensive deflections, and 9 steals, for the Eddies. The Eddies take the court tomorrow night as conference rival Three Rivers travels into the 'Burg. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm following the JV game at 5:30
