The Eddie’s Cross Country team was in action again last Saturday at the Portage Invitational. The team fought through the cold temperatures and a lot of competition to finish with some great times on the mile and a half course. In the boy’s 7th/8th grade race Mason Marazita finished with a time of 11:16 and Brendan Covyeou came in at 12:10. Kara Shrider was the sole medalist; finishing 49th overall with a time of 10:24. Following close behind in the 7th/8th grade girl’s race was Ryan Drew (11:25), Mollie Harris (12:59), and Erin Montgomery (13:01). The 6th grade boys ran tough on Saturday. Tommy Oppman led the Eddies finishing in 12:19. Connor Baker (12:59) and John Bossler (14:08) also had outstanding times on Saturday. Finally in the 6th grade girl’s race Kylie Witty led Edwardsburg with a time of 12:05. Close behind was Brooklyn Broadway (12:45), Paige Albright (12:54), Katana Ryan (12:59), Sophia Phillips (13:02), Elissa Hall (13:13), Aimee Bossler (13:20), Jayne Vankirk (13:21), Emily Andrina (13:26), Alayah Calhoun (13:41), Madelynn Moore (14:12), Madison Strickland (15:56), and Haley Pletcher (15:57). Way to go Eddies! The team will finish up their season this week with the Rock n Run Invitational in Dowagiac on Thursday, and will end with the Sturgis Invitational on Saturday.
